A workation combines remote work with staying somewhere new — a week in Lisbon, a month in Madeira, or a winter in Tenerife. WorkationBase is for anyone who works remotely (or is ready to) and wants to plan workations based on data instead of gut feeling — whether you're planning your first trip or you're a seasoned nomad with high standards for internet quality, climate, and budget.

The Finder lets you filter across several dimensions at once: travel month (climate for the right season), climate type (mild, warm, hot), internet quality, budget (monthly cost of living), and vibe (city, beach, nature). Each destination gets a Workation Score that weighs these factors together — so you can see at a glance which places really match your priorities, instead of clicking through top-10 lists.

Climate data is based on long-term meteorological averages from public sources (including Open-Meteo and national weather services' climate archives). Cost data comes from crowdsourced databases like Numbeo, cross-checked against our own research. Internet figures come from community measurements (Speedtest, nperf) as well as Coliving providers' own data. All data timestamps are dated and updated regularly — outdated figures are flagged as such.

We import provider data from public sources and run manual checks. Expired trips are hidden automatically, and key details are re-checked regularly. We can't guarantee an exhaustive review of every listing, though — so always confirm prices, dates, and availability directly with the provider before booking.

In the Travelbuddies section, members post their planned trips as a listing — with destination, dates, budget, and interests. You can filter listings by your criteria and message people directly through the platform whose plans match yours. To post a listing or send messages, you simply sign in via an email link (passwordless, magic link).

WorkationBase is completely free for travelers. No subscription, no hidden premium features, no sign-up required for most of the content. The platform is funded through transparent affiliate and partner links, as well as paid featured job listings for companies — more on that in the next question.

If you make a purchase or booking through a link marked as a partner link, we may earn a commission — at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links are always clearly marked. We don't list providers preferentially because they pay; data quality and relevance decide. Providers can also enhance their listings (e.g. more photos, featured placement) — this is also clearly marked.

Climate data is based on long-term climate normals and is reviewed when new reference periods are published. Cost data (rent, groceries, coworking) and internet figures are updated regularly. Each destination shows a data timestamp (month/year) so you know how fresh the numbers are. If you notice outdated or incorrect information, we'd appreciate a note — just reach out via About.

Yes. If you know of a Coliving space, workation package, or guided remote trip that isn't on WorkationBase yet, feel free to send us a note by email — you'll find the contact option on About. Providers can also reach out to us directly to create or update their listing.

WorkationBase uses no tracking scripts and doesn't use any cookies that require consent (no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, etc.). That's why there's no cookie banner. Only when you sign in are technically necessary login cookies set; the theme setting stays local on your device. For details, see our privacy policy.
